Beginner Polymer Clay Workshop

March Clay workshop (6).png

This workshop is for beginners! Though if you have experience already with polymer clay, you too will fit right in!

I will be teaching you how to make what’s called a “cane” (a pattern you will create with clay in order to make unique designs). Once we make a cane, we will be able to use this design to make things such as bracelets, earrings or other crafts. I’ll teach you how to blend colors as well as how to bake and harden your polymer clay! This type of clay is used among many professionals.

Lastly, I’ll be giving advice regarding the types of glue to be used, designs, cutters, and knots!

As always, there will be calming music to get us in the mood, and time to check in with each other as well.

I look forward to seeing you!

Reminders: polymer clay must be purchased separately, link below for deals and quick shipping on amazon!

Virtual Tumbler Painting Workshop!

File_000.jpeg

I will be teaching you how to re-vamp those tumblers of yours that have been hanging out in your cabinet or pantry! This could work on water bottles as well.

All you need:

  • Acrylic paint (I use craft paints- found at your nearest craft store!)

  • Paint brushes

  • Water

  • Clear finishing spray (I bought mine from Home Depot, though you could find this at a craft store as well. You do NOT need this for the workshop- though it would be used the next day when your paint dries, to make it permanent.)

I look at my new tumbler now, and it brings me so much joy! And flowers make me happy. How about you? What makes you happy?

I will teach you how I created these flowers, and we will paint together, while listening to relaxing music and checking in with each other. Come and play! I hope to see you :)

When you purchase your ticket, I will send you a zoom link to your email!

Virtual Workshop Series presents:

Rainbows and Sprinkles!

January 31st, 1:00 - 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

This is me giving you permission to take a break, and come play with me and our creative community.

Rainbows bring me so much joy, which is why I‘d like to share this love of mine with you!

We will be creating non-traditional rainbows with whatever you have at home.

This could include: pens, pencils, colored pencils, paint, paint pens, markers, or crayons, and of course, some paper or fabric.

We will start the workshop with a short meditation to bring ourselves into the moment, attempting to let go some of the worries and stressors on our minds.

There will be moments in between where we will check-in with each other. You can work with your screen on or off :)

WORKSHOP TICKET PRICE:

$25 USD

After your payment is confirmed, you will be asked to go “Back to Merchant.” Please click this button, as you will be redirected to a Zoom registration page to register for the event.

Feel free to check out some of my rainbow art!

The one on the left was done with markers on journaling paper, the one on the right was craft paint on canvas! It’s such a relaxing process.

I hope to see you there!

Free Creative Wellness Retreat!

Hi! My name is Gabby Hayward, and I am an art therapist and licensed clinical mental health counselor. I would like to invite you to a free Creative Wellness Retreat that is going to be hosted online on December 2 and December 6.

If you have been feeling tired, exhausted, stressed, anxious, burnt out from work, or from managing family life, or maybe you haven’t been motivated to do the things you most enjoy, this retreat is for you. I am going to help you feel more restored, connected, and cared for.

In this little retreat, we are going to be talking about a theory based practice called Internal Family Systems. We will be identifying, getting to know, and possibly start to heal parts of ourselves who have been struggling throughout this pandemic. If you would like to know a little more about Internal Family Systems before saying yes to this workshop, click here!!

We will be learning about self-care strategies that you can take with you into the holiday season. And, we will be using household objects to create and express ourselves through the process! All you will need is a pencil or pen, and a piece of paper. Simple, right?

A wonderful thing you should know about this online community, is that it is international. We have people who come from all over the world, who are so kind and creative. Wouldn’t you like to see how people from other countries are coping?

AND GUESS WHAT. I will be raffling off four wellness packages at this retreat!

The possible packages you could win:

  1. A free subscription to one year’s worth of live, online creative workshops.  I will be having at least one a month for the next year!

  2. 5 live, online Barre classes with my good friend, Chase Willman, who is also an inspiration to thousands of women.

  3. Access to my online portal which includes my new Self-Care Project course.

  4. A Honey + Bourbon candle from HoneySalt Cape Cod, a card set and hand-made jewelry from Bella Hayward-Mullett.

In order to qualify for the raffle you must attend one of the retreats that are available.

The first retreat will be on Wednesday, December 2nd from 7-9 PM (EST). The second workshop will be on December 6th from 1 to 3 PM (EST). Please follow the link below to sign up! I hope to see you there!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook for future events!

Lauren Kabis, “I am a fiber artist who lives in Dorset, VT. As someone who lives with anxiety and depression, creating macrame has been a great way to unwind and detach from the world for a little while. The tree branches used in my pieces were found on the ground during one of my many walks in the woods, and the super soft cotton cord is made from recycled cotton.”

Found Object Collage Workshop, inspired by Carol Scarlett!

Welcome to week 6 of my Virtual Workshop series! This week, to continue our theme of creating using things we may already have in our home, I thought it would be great to try something new. There are many famous artists that create beautiful pieces of art using found objects, my supervisor Simone Alter-Muri expressed. And we even have an artist in our midst who inspires me with her work! Carol has attended quite a few of these workshops, and while getting to know her style, she has really inspired me to give this a try. Below is a found object collage by Carol Scarlett.

Myself in Rubbish! By Carol Scarlett

“Here is a found object collage with me, made out of rubbish really. Made from old keys squashed beer cans I have picked up from the pavement. Plus other found items, some from the pavement, and some old paper clips… I like looking around for bottle caps, odd bits and pieces to go into the collages. ”

In this workshop, we will also continue to explore parts of ourself, including our protectors and inner children. As adults, when do we really get time to play? Below, I played around with objects I found in my home. As you can see… it looks playful and childish, in a good way! But honestly, my workshops are about the process, not the outcome (a big part of what Art Therapy is all about). Though you may be pleasantly surprised with your final product!

What you could use:

  • Any random knick knack you can find!

  • glue / Modge podge / homemade glue

  • paintbrush

  • trash

  • uncooked pasta

  • buttons

  • magazines / newspapers

  • sticks / flowers / grass

  • small stones

  • plastic wrap / aluminum foil

  • corks

  • tacks

  • hair clips

  • paperclips

  • scraps of fabric / old clothes / socks

  • thread

  • bottle caps

  • paint

I look forward to seeing you :)

Printmaking in your Kitchen Workshop!

Untitled design-2.png

It’s that time again!

Welcome to week 5 of my Virtual Workshop Series! This week we will be printmaking with supplies from the kitchen! The supplies you will need are below.

  • A potato / carrot / celery / or apple

  • A knife

  • A handmade book / paper / paper bag / or canvas

  • Acrylic paint

  • Paintbrushes

  • A Cup / jar of water

  • Newspaper

  • A chopstick / pen / or pencil

This week’s workshop is FREE, and will be taking place this Sunday from 1-2:30pm EST on Zoom. We will be talking a little more about parts of ourselves that we are starting to notice! For me, I have a distractor part always trying to get me to craft while I’m working! Do you have a distractor part? Or maybe a self-critic part telling you, you could have done better, or that you’re not doing enough? Let me tell you… these workshops are about the process of creating and connecting with people who are going through similar things with similar parts.

Anyone can join, especially if it’s your first time. Don’t be afraid! This is an extremely welcoming group with new people joining each week. I would love to have you and support you all the way through.

Below are images of potato prints I made!

I hope to see you,
